Weather Data

The latest evolution of my never ending weather station project is an Arduino with a Sparkfun Weather Shield connected to a Raspberry Pi running WeeWX. The data from the weather sensors is read by the Arduino and published to a MQTT server running on the Pi. I wrote a custom WeeWX client to read from the MQTT server and from here WeeWX does its magic, the result of which can be seen here. Below is the a graph of the current from WeeWX. Also the current weather is displayed on an ESP32 based device in my kitchen.

Weather Satellite Images

Below is the latest weather satellite images received using a SDR-RTL dongle and a Raspberry Pi, these are then uploaded automatically. The instructions that I followed to do this are here and the configuration that worked for me can be found here.

Astrophotography

To relax I use a telescope and a webcam or a DSLR camera to take pictures of the moon and the planets. The above picture of the moon is a combination of 30 images stiched together using Microsoft Image Composite Editor then adjusted with the Gimp. To capture the planets I use a hacked up webcam.
